Circulating Cancer Stem Cells

What are cancer stem cells?

Circulating cancer stem cells cause your cancer to spread and metastasize all over your body. The New England Journal of Medicine called this a liquid biopsy to predict your remission and prognosis. I can measure these with a tube of blood. The problem is, that maximum tolerated chemotherapy do not kill these cells, but instead makes them grow in number and causes your cancer to spread. For this reason I use a low dose, metronomic chemotherapy. These cells are very slow growing and are killed best by natural substances. If you have cancer, or you have been treated for cancer you need to have these cells measured as well as do testing to find out which chemotherapy and natural substances work best.

Cancer stem cells have dysregulated stemness pathways. These pathways include Nanog, Wnt/beta-catenin, Hegehog, Notch, JAK/STAT, PI3K/Akt. Through these pathways there is cancer migration, development of resistance to chemotherapy. They are able to renew themselves.Read More

Please remember that circulating cancer stem cells cause metastasis and the distant spread of your cancer. If they are not killed the cancer WILL come back. They are not rapidly dividing cells and therfore chemotherapy does not kill them. What does kill then are more natural substances you can find below. We use genomic testing to find out which specific natural substances will kill your cancer.

According to a recent article from UMass Amherst, and Harvard, “Using new approach to systematically test chemotherapy drugs in an unusual animal model, research team led by University of Massachusetts Amherst molecular biologist Michele Markstein, with Norbert Perrimon at Harvard Medical School, report that several have a serious side effect: Including hyper proliferation in stem cells that could lead to tumor recurrence. Markstein says, ‘We discovered that several chemotherapeutics that stop fast growing tumors have the opposite effect on stem cells in the same animal, causing them to divide too rapidly. This was a surprise, because it showed that the same drug could have opposite actions on cells in the same animal: Suppressing tumor growth on one cell population while initiating growth in another. Not only is the finding of clinical interest, but with this study we used an emerging new non-traditional tool for assessing drugs using stem cells in the fruit fly gut.”

Testing of Your Circulating Cancer Stem Cells

With early detection, you have the best chances of surviving cancer. This testing will tell you when the treatment has become resistant and has stopped working. It can also guide Dr. Silver in designing the best therapeutic options. Taking repeated biopsies is not practical for many reasons. They are invasive, painful, and can be risky. A blood test, or a liquid biopsy of the circulating cancer stem cells can show in real time what the cancer GENOME happens to be doing, or when the first line of treatment has failed and increases the risk of spreading.

Tumors are genetically complex, meaning that they contain a mix of cells with different mutations. Without measuring these mutations and biomarkers you will only receive the same treatment as everyone else. You will never get the correct treatment specifically for you.

Across different types of cancers only a small fraction of the tumor are circulating cancer stem cells. For example, in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) only one in a million of the cells are circulating cancer stem cells. These are named by cell surface markers such as CD34+ and CD38-. In brain cancer, their proportion of circulating cancer stem cells relates to the disease, severity, and prognosis. Fast growing tumors have more circulating cancer stem cells.

Summary

Circulating cancer stem cells cause metastasis and eventually cause the death of the patient. Measurement is done on all my patients and the level will predict their remission and prognosis. These cells are slow growing and are normally not effected by chemotherapy. In fact chemotherapy can cause an increase in number and cause your cancer to spread. I have developed proprietary protocols to lower and eliminate your circulating cancer stem cells and kill your primary cancer. Without doing this your cancer will never be beaten.
